Save Passwords with LastPass

I have been using LastPass for several years. It is a great solution for saving passwords securely, since they are saved on LastPass servers, not your computer. It is also helpful if you have more than one computer and want to be able to easily access all passwords no matter which computer was used to create them. When you first set it up it finds all the current passwords stored on your computer and uses them to start the database.

It comes in handy when you switch computers, because you don’t have to re-enter all the passwords.  Also, it keeps your log in info permanently, so if you revisit a site after not using it for a few years, all the log in info pops up for you.  I have visited sites where I didn’t even remember I was a member, and the log in info is there automatically.

The standard service is free, and they have an upgrade which can be used on mobile phones which costs $12/year. You actually can access it from a mobile phone, just browse to lastpass.com and sign in to your vault. You don’t need to upgrade to do this. I assume the upgrade just makes it easier.

You can also use it to create secure notes to store private information, to automatically fill in forms and to generate secure passwords.

I have created a short demo video. Actually, I created 2 because I was having trouble accessing the form-filling utility on my laptop so the second one was created on my desktop computer.

The first video was created using Camtasia 8 and the second was created using Camtasia 7. See if you can see any difference. The fact that one is wide screen and the other isn’t is because of the shape of my monitors, not the version of Camtasia.
