This is an ancient manuscript for an ad I wrote maybe 15 years ago. If you know anything about me personally, you know I’m the worst sort of pack-rat there is. I have dozens of banker’s boxes in the garage stuffed with files, notes, ads and what-not–some of it going back thirty years. Most of it is pure junk… but occasionally, I come across some gem.

I was NOT a world-class writer when I penned this ad.

However… you can see the seeds of genius in it. I did not try to over-write… as so many “‘not yet great” writers do.

No. Instead, I just put my nose to the grindstone, and wrote out a clear, simple sales pitch. My bullets are a little raw– I hadn’t yet perfected the “‘one/two” punch tactic. Still, these are compelling enough. “Ethically steal”. “5 sneaky salesman’s tricks”. “Sticker price sucker punch.” “Inside pricing book”, “Make a banker gag.”
