Last week Google announced a major update to their search algorithm. It uses a technology that can take into account all the words in a search rather than just the “main” ones. It is estimated that it will affect 1 in 10 Google searches.

Called “Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers”, or “BERT” for short, it means that Google searches can bring back more relevant results.
